How much does new flooring cost?
Fitted, mid-range: laminate £30–£45 per m², LVT £45–£70, engineered wood £60–£100, carpet £25–£45. A whole three-bed house typically £2k–£10k depending on material. Use the Cost Planner for a postcode-adjusted range.
Does the subfloor really matter?
It's most of the job. LVT telegraphs every bump; wood moves if moisture isn't checked. A fitter who quotes without asking about your subfloor is guessing — verified fitters survey first.
Supply-and-fit or fit-only?
Fit-only can save 10–20% if you buy boards in a sale, and most verified fitters are happy with that split. For carpet and LVT, supply-and-fit usually prices better through trade accounts.
