How much does a new driveway cost?
A two-car block-paved driveway typically £4.5k to £8k; resin-bound £5k to £10k; tarmac and gravel less. The sub-base drives the price, and the lifespan. Start your project and your estimate prices the surface you pick, adjusted to your postcode.
Do I need planning permission for a driveway?
Not if the surface is permeable or drains to a lawn or soakaway. Impermeable surfaces over 5m² draining to the road need permission. Verified contractors design to SuDS rules so you don't.
How do I avoid a driveway that sinks?
It's what's underneath: 150mm+ of compacted MOT Type 1 on a geotextile, laid to falls. Cheap quotes skimp exactly there. Quotes on Compare Builders specify the build-up, so you can compare like for like.
